What your toddler may be doing at 24 months

Once your toddler reachers 24 months, you may be wondering where toddler growth fits into the picture and what should they be doing by now? Many moms are concerned about whether their child is on the right developmental track or not. Many 24 month toddlers will be able to build a tower of at least 4 blocks, pretend to feed a baby doll, identify at least two items in a picture by pointing to them [either when asked, or by telling you], and most are able to take off at least one article of clothing. Children reach these milestones at different ages, but these items would be typical in toddler growth for the 24 month old.

They probably will be able to...

In addition to the typical skills above, your toddler will probably be able to throw a ball overhanded, identify at least four picturs by pointing at them, build a tower six blocks high, and speak words and be understood at least half of the time. They may even be able to jump up and down with ease or put on an item of clothing all by theirself.

Some may be able to...

Some toddlers may even be able to build a tower of eight blocks, carry on a conversation with you of maybe two to three sentences in length, and draw a vertical line [by tracing or imitating another]. They love imaginary play, playing with things likes dishes, clocks, and animals and have a memory that doesn't quit! If you have concern about your toddlers development, contact your local physician to discuss your concerns with them.
